Lund-based communications specialist Timespace Radio has decided to abandon what was perceived as its main product, the TSR 34 radio link. It simply could not keep up with the telecommunications giants' LMDS products. More than half of the company's 47 employees are now being made redundant.
Timespace Radio's TSR 34 radio link could not compete with other solutions on the market. Particularly those based on LMDS (Local Multipoint Distribution Service) offered by large communications players.
According to MD Lars Paulsson, the company underestimated how difficult it is for a small concern to compete with the market leaders. The company never succeeded in forming an alliance with another, bigger company.
Timespace will now focus on a simpler radio link. Operators of small cells for mobile communication, so called hotspots, in for instance hotels or universities, are the company's main targets for this product, which operates on a free, undisclosed frequency.
