Swedish telecommunications specialist Allgon needs to restructure in order to survive. The company is one of Sweden's most successful small telecommunications groups, but now its entire operation is being reviewed.
The company's newly appointed MD Jeff Bork tells Elektroniktidningen how Allgon, from now on, will concentrate on a few key areas. This means that the company could be adding new activities in some areas and collaborating within or selling off some of its own activities. For instance, the company's newly developed high capacity radio link might be sold off.

Today, Allgon has a strong position especially in mobile phone antennas, repeater systems and basestation antennas. However, the company also sells combiners, filters, mast top amplifiers and radio links, as well as Bluetooth and WLAN products.

"Our goal is to become world leaders in one or more segments and then we need to reach a turnover of between SEK3bn to SEK5bn ($0.3bn-0.5bn) per year in that area," says Jeff Bork.

First, however, the company's turnover is expected to decrease during its restructure. One of the more exciting areas, which the company is currently investigating as a possible future venture, is production of mobile phone antennas integrated in plastic.
